Separately, more than a dozen U.S. companies and utilities, including Houston-based Calpine Corp., and the New York Power Authority, created a new group-- American Businesses for Clean Energy-- to lobby for "meaningful and effective legislation that will drive clean technology innovation, create jobs and address the threat of global climate change."
