Saunders Hotel Group

Boston, MA

The Saunders Hotel Group, as a pioneer of urban ecotourism worldwide for over 20 years, has been committed to slowing Climate Disruption since 1999. In addition to dramatically reducing the carbon footprint of its hotels along the Eastern Seaboard, they were also the first hotels in the world to offset 100% of the CO2 emissions from their properties' electricity use. SHG's Comfort Inn & Suites Boston/Airport was one of the first hotels in the country to purchase CNG (compressed natural gas) vans for their airport shuttles. The Lenox Hotel, SHG's historic, 4-star flagship in Boston, purchases only hybrid vehicles for its guest transportation. Saunders Hotel Groups' leadership has been a prominent business voice, pushing for strong climate action and policy over 7 years. SHG's Director of Sustainability has testified repeatedly in favor of the groundbreaking climate policy in Massachusetts. He has also traveled to DC with E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs) NRDC's business group- to talk with Members of Congress on why businesses will benefit from sound, national GCC policy. Mr. Saunders has been interviewed on numerous radio stations across the country on this subject and is an active Board Member of Ceres, The Woods Hole Research Center, UCS' National Advisory Board and other outstanding groups fighting to help us avoid the worst consequences of Global Climate Disruption.
